Sankofa, a USA Fencing Hall of Fame inductee, says exposing kids of all ages to the Olympic sport has many benefits. “There are so many opportunities for kids to compete, travel worldwide, and enrich their lives academically through the sport," Sankofa says.
The day camp will be held at the Nyack Library, located at 59 S. Broadway in Nyack, and will run from 9am-3pm for two weeks. The day camp has a maximum registration of 16 kids to allow for a low student-to-teacher ratio, and all equipment needed for fencing is provided.
Thrust Fencing Academy, which specializes in saber fencing, holds classes six days a week for ages 5-19. Students are split into three groups: ages 5-7 are musketeers, ages 7-11 are beginners, and ages 11-19 are advanced.
