Keeping Our Streams Clean: 2018 Fall Waterways Cleanup in Rockland

Keeping Our Streams Clean: 2018 Fall Waterways Cleanup in Rockland

Keep Rockland Beautiful’s Fall Waterways Cleanup is underway.

Four events are currently scheduled throughout the county and along the Hudson River during September and October, with more to come, for Keep Rockland Beautiful's Fall Waterways Cleanup. The organization collaborates with community partners, including the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference, the Sparkill Creek Watershed Alliance, and various other groups to make a difference in Rockland’s most heavily littered areas.

The Fall Waterways Cleanup communicates the importance of clean waterways and natural resource protection through its coined-phrase, “Clean Streets = Clean Streams.”

Concerned scout leader and Keep Rockland Beautiful volunteer Jen Servidio explains why keeping our community clean is important: “To help keep our neighborhoods clean, to teach future generations the importance of being responsible for our Earth, and to educate them about the environment.”

Keep Rockland Beautiful leads efforts to clean, protect, and beautify Rockland’s environment by educating and empowering people to share in the care and stewardship of our communities.

Unable to make it to a cleanup? Schedule your own to improve your neighborhood, a local park, or another littered site with family, friends, or co-workers! Unsure where to start? Call the Keep Rockland Beautiful office and they’ll be happy to help!

Cleanup events demonstrate strong community bonds and shine a light on our community partners who work to better the environment and their community.

“Our churches are starting to recognize the importance of environmental stewardship – it’s fabulous!" says Natalie Patasaw, volunteer cleanup leader. "We travel from across the county to clean up because it makes a difference. Rockland County is finally starting to care for Rockland County!”

To register, visit the Keep Rockland Beautiful website. Participants are encouraged to invite family and friends. For information, please contact the Keep Rockland Beautiful office at (845) 708-9164 or email [email protected].
