Academy of Holy Angels Announces National Merit Semifinalist

Bridgid Miller of Pearl River and the AHA class of 2021 is AHA's National Merit Semifinalist.

The Academy of the Holy Angels is pleased to announce that nine members of the Class of 2021 have received national recognition in the 65th Annual National Merit® Scholarship Program. Students are honored for their performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit® Scholarship Qualifying Test.

Brigid Miller of Pearl River is AHA’s National Merit® Semifinalist. She is now in the running to become a Finalist in the National Merit® Scholarship Program.

AHA’s Commended Students are Caitlin Brannigan of Hillsdale, Claire Dodds of Cresskill, Isabelle Egan of Oradell, Eunvee Kim of Norwood, Tamara Kim of Demarest, Carol Laux of Westwood, Sarah Onderdonk of Wyckoff, and Mary Quimbo of Woodcliff Lake. These students earned letters of commendation from the National Merit® Scholarship Corporation and have the opportunity to receive scholarships sponsored by businesses and corporations.

“I am extremely happy for our Commended Students and National Merit® Semifinalist who are being recognized nationally for the effort and work we see them do every day in our own school community. The recognition is well deserved,” says AHA Principal Jean Miller.

NMSC anticipates that approximately 7,600 scholarships worth over $31 million will be awarded to Finalists across the country in the spring of 2021.

Founded by the School Sisters of Notre Dame in 1879, the Academy of the Holy Angels is the oldest private girls’ school in Bergen County. While AHA is steeped in Catholic tradition, this prestigious high school serves young women from many cultural and religious backgrounds. Many go on to study at some of the nation’s best universities, earning high-ranking positions in medicine, government, law, education, public service, business, arts, and athletics. AHA’s current leaders further the SSND mission to help each student reach the fullness of her potential—spiritually, intellectually, socially, and physically, by offering a first-rate education in a nurturing environment.
