Theater Company and Summer Camp Join Forces To Give Kids a Unique Summer Experience

Clarkstown Theatre Company will be joining forces with 'Day Camp in the Park' to offer a true Summer TheatreCAMP experience.  Campers take part in every activity needed to put a show on its feet. 

Kids create the show, design their costumes, paint the sets, take acting classes every day, work with music and choreography, load everything into the theater, and then act in an original version of a Shakespearean comedy.

This summer camp will be held at Harriman Park just off the Palisades Parkway, which is a sprawling 500 acre park. Having the TheatreCAMP in this location, "helps to enforce our belief that kids should be able to create great theater, as well as enjoy all the fun that summer and the outdoors has to offer," says the camp's Artistic Director Laurie McDermott. "'Day Camp in the Park' recognizes that good theater can be enjoyed and created by campers when they have the opportunity to work with Broadway professionals and are given the space to create," she says.
