Coupé Theatre Studio Moves to New Location

Coupé Theatre Studio, a performing arts and dance studio in Rockland County, is moving to a new, larger location in Nanuet in September. The studio will also offer three new classes: acro, vocal technique and interpretation, and Music for Aardvarks, plus a Sunday Workshop series.

Since 1970, Coupé Theatre Studio has offered a multitude of classes in the areas of ballet, jazz, musical theater, vocal performance, acting, and hip-hop for children ages 3 to adult. This September, the studio will move to a new location allowing for the expansion of programs and studio space. The new facility will feature a small retail store on-site offering dance wear for children ages 3-8, a snack bar, large boys’ and girls’ locker rooms, and observation windows.

Aiming to offer students the highest quality of instruction, Coupé Theatre Studio will add new classes, which start Sept. 8, including Acro, Vocal Technique and Interpretation Class, Music for Aardvarks, and a Sunday workshop series in which children will meet top choreographers and instructors. Depending on the style of dance covered, age requirements will range for the Sunday series. 

Acro classes will combine classic dance with the athleticism of acrobatics. Children in third grade and older will learn balancing and tumbling and gain flexibility and strength. The Vocal Technique and Interpretation Class offers children the opportunity to explore their vocal capacity through a series of vocal exercises, which aim to strengthen pitch and range. Music for Aardvarks with Adam Roberts will offer an alternative experience to traditional music classes with influences of rock, jazz, pop, and blues for children ages 3 months to 5 years.

Diane Coupé Frankel, owner and founder says the care and attention instructors offer to each child is what drives all programs. “We have a wide variety of children in the studio and each one should be taken care of to the best of their ability, and that’s extremely important,” Frankel says.
