Dental Wellness of Suffern Welcomes Jonathan Gellis, DDS

Jonathan Gellis, DDS, joined Sherri Alpert, DDS, at Dental Wellness of Suffern this September. They believe in stress-free dental care for the entire family using the painless and noiseless Solea dental laser instead of a drill for cavities. 

Dr. Gellis attended Penn State for his undergraduate degree and later attended Rutgets Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. He earned his doctor of dental surgery degree from New York University College of Dentistry, then continued with a post-doctorate at the Veterans Affairs New Jersey Health Care System in East Orange, New Jersey, which he completed in June of 2018.  

“I’ve been looking for someone to add to my practice for about a year. My friend who was his professor at NYU Dentistry highly recommended him. We were waiting for him to get his New York license which he now has,” says Dr. Alpert, dentist at and owner of Dental Wellness of Suffern. “He is a caring professional.”

Dr. Alpert will be training Dr. Gellis with her pediatric specialist style. Every aspect of a dental visit is designed to be comfortable for kids and parents, including a waiting room with toys and a dedicated children’s office where kids can see mobiles.

“We make balloons and do magic tricks. We make sure that kids are comfortable emotionally. I’ll just sit on the floor and play mobile with them until they’re ready to sit in the chair,” says Dr. Alpert

Kids can sit on their parent’s lap until they’re ready to sit on their own, and parents are always welcome in the room.

Dr. Alpert is also author of two children’s dental books, “Cassandra Gets Her Smile Back” and “The Attack of the Sugar Bugs”. By appointment, she does book readings on Monday mornings at 10:30am.
