Miss American Pie Shop Opens in Park Slope

Miss American Pie Shop Opens in Park Slope

Owner Lindsey Hill hopes her pie shop will bring together Park Slope residents and establish a sense of community.

On August 17, Lindsey Hill, former fashion designer, turned her online pie business into a brick-and-mortar storefront at Miss American Pie Shop in Park Slope. The shop is a 1950s-inspired bakery with an industrial twist offering pies of all kinds, coffee drinks, pastries, and savory treats. Hill says she hopes the pie shop will spread love and joy and will be a place to facilitate community and authentic relationships throughout Brooklyn.

“When people tasted my pies, they said things like ‘I can taste the love in this, why aren’t you selling these?’” says Hill. “Last Thanksgiving I stayed awake far too long making pies in a rented kitchen and I said, ‘I can’t do this again. I have to get my own place.’ Ever since January I’ve been figuring out how to get my own store.”

As part of Hill’s effort to bring together the Park Slope community, the pie shop features an artist wall where Brooklyn-based artists can display their work. Hill says she also plans to host community events like pie eating contests, holiday parties, and ice cream socials. Don’t worry, there will be a dog bowl set outside for your four-legged family members to enjoy as well.

“I want [the pie shop] to be a place where people feel valued and welcome to come sit and talk to each other,” says Hill. “My goal here is to bring joy and facilitate community and authentic, fun-loving atmospheres. I think Park Slope is a really great area for that because there are so many different converging demographics at the Barclays Center. It’s really the perfect place for different people to come together and learn and love and build relationships.”
