Miss Danielle’s Rising Stars Day Care, a home-based day care center, recently opened in Orangeburg. Danielle Montalvo, owner and newly licensed day care provider who is first aid- and CPR-certified, aims to offer a unique, one-on-one care experience to eight children ages 6 weeks to 12 years.

Upon arrival each day, children will engage in free play, which can include dress up, blocks, and a play kitchen; play outside in the play house, on the seesaw, or in the sandbox among other activities; have arts and crafts time, story time, music time, and circle time, in which Montalvo teaches children the alphabet, numbers, and animals using an age-appropriate curriculum. Each month, the lessons taught focus on a different theme from seasons to dinosaurs and each activity (story time, arts and crafts) focuses on that month’s topic.

Montalvo says she aims to offer a summer program next year, in which she will take the children to one or two special locations per week, including the park, a movie, the zoo, and the library, and have more outdoor activities including clown performances and bouncy houses.

Breakfast, lunch, and morning and afternoon snacks are provided for each child. The day care operates from 6:45am-6pm and before and after hours are available for families in need. Parents can receive a 10-percent discount if you mention Rockland Parent.
