Winter break is here! From museums to ice skating to maple sugaring, there are tons of cool activities to explore in and around Rockland. Check out the list below and enjoy the many local attractions right in our backdoor.

February 22nd - February 27th: Historical Society of Rockland County

Dolls! Dollhouses! Fashion! Explore the history of fashion in the exhibit, “Playing with Fashion: Dolls and Dollhouses Featuring the Miniature Art of Kathleen Brennan at the Rockland Museum.” You and your kids will love seeing an intricate collection of dolls and dollhouses showcasing looks and ??fashions from 1960-2020. This includes a look at fashion trends, dollhouse architecture, and accessories as well as miniature art pieces from artist Kathleen Brennan. 20 Zukor Road, New City, NY 10956.

Daily: Edward Hopper House Museum & Study Center

You don’t have to go to NYC to enjoy arts and culture. Spend a few hours at the Edward Hopper House Museum & Study Center to see a collection of this iconic artist in his boyhood home. The latest exhibit showcases how his muse/wife, Josephine (Jo) Nivison Hopper, influenced his work. On display are some of her watercolor paintings as well as a restaging of Edward Hopper's bedroom and photographs of Edward Hopper's work. They also offer ongoing family art workshops on Saturdays and Sundays from 1-3pm. Tickets are limited and timed. 82 North Broadway, Nyack, NY 10960.



Daily: Bear Mountain State Park

Bear Mountain is always a fun place to explore. Over break, try ice skating during their public skating hours. Don’t worry if you don’t have skates, they also offer rentals (for toddler 8 to size 13 adult). If it’s not too cold, you can also go on a hike or check out their on-site zoo. Daily: Maple sugaring at The Tenafly Nature Center

Take a mini road trip to The Tenafly Nature Center to learn more about the interesting history of syrup making and how sap gathering has been changed with the use of technology. Families can tap trees and watch how sap gets boiled down to make fresh maple syrup. Rain or shine, limited space, and pre-registration is required.
