Bruce Museum

 

Consistently voted the "Best Museum" by area media, the Bruce Museum in Greenwich, CT, is a world-class, community-based institution highlighting art, science and natural history in more than a dozen changing exhibitions annually. The permanent galleries feature the natural sciences that encompass regional to global perspectives.

The Bruce is located in a park-like setting, adjacent to a large, well-equipped children’s playground. The Museum is close by Exit 3 of I-95, the Greenwich Metro North train station, and the shops and restaurants of Greenwich Avenue.

Doors close 1/2 hour before closing,
Last admission 4:30 pm

Youth and Family Programs at the Bruce

The Bruce Museum is an educational institution which, through its varied exhibitions and collections in the arts and sciences, provides programs for diverse audiences. Visit brucemuseum.org to view a calendar with complete listings of programs, activities and special events. Among our regularly scheduled programs and activities for children and families:

Bruce Beginnings 
Tuesdays, 11:00 to 11:45 am and 1:00 to 1:45 pm
Bruce Beginnings programs are designed for children ages 2.5 - 5 and their adult caregivers, who will explore the Museum's collections and exhibitions through picture books and hands-on activities. Topics rotate between art and science. Space for this program is limited; participants must see the Visitor Service desk upon arrival to the Museum.

Bruce Beginnings, Jr.
Second Thursday of each month, 9:45 to 10:45 am
This hour long program provides a welcoming and engaging museum experience for toddlers, ages 10-24 months, and their caregivers through hands-on play and exploration. Sessions are inspired by the museum’s collections and exhibits.  Space for this program is limited; participants must see the Visitor Service desk upon arrival to the Museum.

Family Gallery Tours
Most Sundays, 11:30 am to 12:15 pm
Designed especially for children ages 6 - 10 and their families. These tours provide an interactive, discussion-based tour of the Museum's current exhibitions.

Science Sunday or Art Adventure
Select Sundays, 1:00 to 3:00 pm
Drop-in monthly programs designed for children 4 and up and their families to explore simple science and art concepts while partaking in kid-friendly experiments, projects, or crafts inspired by the Museum's exhibitions and collections. Check the calendar for dates.

Family Studio Workshops 
Select Sundays, 1:00 to 2:30 pm
A 1 1/2-hour program for children age 4 and up with their families. Participants will create a work of art inspired by the Museum's collections and exhibitions! This program is $7 per person for members and $15 for non-members, plus the cost of Museum admission. Registration required at brucemuseum.org/site/events

Afternoons at the Bruce
Select school vacation days, 2:00 to 4:30pm
Spend the afternoon off from school discovering, learning and creating! Workshops are designed for grades K-5 and explore the museum’s collections and exhibitions. Members $15, $25 for non-members. Snack included! Advanced registration is required at brucemuseum.org/site/events.

Family Days

Bruce Moose Activity Packs

Designed to help families explore the Museum’s galleries in a more fun and hands-on way, each pack contains four to five objects and activities that will encourage more looking, more learning, and more discoveries!  Bruce Moose Packs are free and available for loan at the Front Desk. Ask a Visitor Services Associate for more details.
