Soccer Friends USA is proud and excited to present a new, dynamic offering in the form of its Queensborough United Soccer Club competitive  traveling teams.

All boys born in 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006, and 2005 are welcome to try out for a roster spot on the fastest growing traveling team in Queens. It’s simple and easy to try out for the squad. If your boy fits the age/birth year requirement above, and is a resident of Queens County, then he is eligible to participate! It’s a first come, first serve basis for the try-out process.

The popular seven-days-a-week program begins right after the Labor Day holiday. With over five prime locations in the Central Queens area, your children can look forward to our dynamic soccer classes, learn a new language in our soccer through Spanish courses, be exposed to the sport at a young age with our 18-24 month option, unwind after a long day of sitting at their desk in our after-school program, or even invite their friends to one of our uniquely engaging birthday parties. Starting with our 4.5-6 age group, girls can experience some camaraderie with our all girls’ classes, while your toddlers can get a kick out of our in-daycare classes. With Soccer Friends USA’s multitude of options, and our Monday-Sunday, year-round schedule, there really is a time and a place for everyone.

Why choose Queensborough United Soccer Club over our competitors?

1) Professional Coaches with playing experience as well having coached youth soccer programs on all levels. We’re providing the best possible teachers who understand children.
2) Our Coaches/Teachers understand that they are working with children not mini-adults!  They are teaching the finer points of the game to help them succeed, building confidence and a passion for the game on and off the field.
3) Our teams practice twice a week, for 90 minutes each time. Your child will have the opportunity to play in highly regarded regional tournaments, friendly scrimmages against other community based teams, and high-end league play.
5) Queensborough United Soccer Club is run by the same people who run Soccer Friends USA. We are the best at instilling a passion, engagement and keeping children active while helping them achieve their athletic goals.
6) Our name says it all. We plan to unite the diverse borough of Queens into the soccer powerhouse we know it can and should be. Join us in our endeavor!

How Soccer Friends USA is a full service soccer school.

Soccer Friends USA offers three, clear options from which our families can choose which program best suits their child's needs. Within all of these options, our students will be taught by our highly-motivated, well-trained staff from as early as as 18 months all the way through 16 years. Our general skills classes which teach coordination, balance, & ball movement for pre-schoolers lead seamlessly into classes for our school-aged children, teaching the basics of soccer such as athletic coordination, dribbling, passing, and shooting.

If your child begins to develop a real passion and love for the sport of soccer, from 6 years old and up, and you are wondering what we offer outside of the regular classes, we would guide you to our Futsal Soccer training league.  In this program, your child gets the excitement of their first experience of playing in a game, and will begin to learn how to be a member of a team, over a 10 week season.  Your child will benefit from the skills they gain during their general classes, but now they will have the opportunity to implement those skills in a game format. Please note, this is still a training program and while there is naturally a level of competitiveness in the games, the focus of our teaching is still focused on improving the child's skill level and understanding of the game and we are still nurturing their love for the game.  The program is run by our Directors of Coaching and the games are coached and refereed by our trained, professional staff. This program is currently only offered in the Winter season as it is indoor-based game.

Our third step begins at 8 years old and is our competitive travel team program for boys and girls. This program is designed for any child and family who wants to commit to playing on a competitive youth soccer team.  There are try-out days scheduled in late spring of each year.  The commitment level required by the child and the family is much greater than the other programs mentioned, as you have to sign up for a 9 month season which would begin in late August and conclude in early June. There are 3 seasons over those 9 months; they are held in the fall, winter, and spring.  During the fall and spring season your child would be required to attend two training sessions per week, plus a games on Sundays.  The fall and spring seasons usually consist of 10 games over 10 weeks.  The winter season is held indoors and consist of 2 practices per week, plus 2 indoor tournaments.

The world our Children live in;

For many children, the preferred place to play is (or has to be) within their own four walls.  Because we live in such a urban concrete jungle there is lack of outside space to play in it gives way to domesticity, leading to a compartmentalization of life.  Homework, computer games and internet surfing significantly restrict the time available for physical activity.  Compounding the issue of inactivity in our children is the continuing reduction of physical education and recess time in our schools also makes for less time spent actively.

The consequences of the above issues lead to posture problems, obesity, cardiovascular deficiencies and problems with basic coordination.  Soccer Friends USA compensates for children’s lack of physical activity by providing a wide variety of activities in all of our programs. All of our coaches focus exclusively on the needs, desires and interests of children, not on scores or championships.

We thank you for entrusting your child with us.  We will do all we can to make sure that you and your children are comfortable with us.  Our priorities for teaching kids to play soccer are shooting the ball in a given direction, dribbling the ball while running, stopping it without using their hands, shooting goals and blocking shots: These are the basic elements of soccer we introduce to our players, with the help of a variety of exercises and above all by playing the game.

However, it’s equally important to us that our young players learn:

  • To get along with their peers in a group
  • To pursue a common goal as part of a team
  • To deal appropriately with winning and losing
  • To respect their opponents
  • To accept they obey the rules, both on and off the field

Your child will also:

  • Develop individual approaches to using sports equipment
  • Gain basic experience in a variety of game situations
  • Improve aspects of coordination such as mobility, agility and reaction
  • Experience the fun and excitement of playing soccer.

So don’t be surprised if sometimes you come to soccer class and see your child playing games that seemingly have nothing to do with soccer. Climbing, balancing, jumping, hopping, skipping, and throwing etc. are fundamental skills that need to be improved.  In the long run, they will contribute to the development of soccer skills.  But of course, practice sessions still revolve around the game.
