The Harlem Wizards, whose basketball tricks are reminiscent of the Globetrotters, stop by Suffern High School to take on community leaders, local politicians, and Cherry Lane Elementary School faculty.

 

 

Photography class in RocklandMarch 10-11

Point and Shoot

Aspiring photographers can learn techniques and get practical experience at a Crash Course Camera Class. Participating teens and tweens will explore the concepts of lighting, angle, and composition and learn how basic camera functions like aperture and shutter speed affect their final photographs. Students will venture out to shoot the Nyack downtown area, then bring their photos back the next day to learn how to enhance them using basic Photoshop techniques. Participants should bring either a digital SLR or point-and-shoot camera.

 

 

Rockland County YouthfestMarch 11

Get to Know Your County

Learn about local businesses, services, and recreational activities while your kids have fun and get loads of freebies at the 14th annual Rockland County Youthfest, sponsored by the Rockland County Youth Bureau. There will also be family-friendly entertainment and demonstrations throughout the day.

 

 

Pearl River St. Patrick's Day ParadeMarch 18

Salute St. Patrick

Each year, Pearl River hosts the second largest St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the state (right behind the NYC parade, which is held March 17). This year is extra special, as the parade celebrates its 50th anniversary. March 18. 1:30pm. FREE. Starts at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, 401 N. Middletown Road, Pearl River (from there, it heads down Middletown Road before turning onto Central Avenue).

Toddlers can exercise their literary and artistic skills at the same time at Glaze, which hosts monthly Pottery and a Story hours. This month, stop by for a reading of Giraffes Can’t Dance by Giles Andreae, and then paint your own a giraffe.

 

 

Glo Putt at The Sports PlaceEvery Friday

Run, Bounce, Putt…

Kids ages 7 and older can get a dose of wholesome fun each Friday at The Sports Place’s Open Gym Nights. This super space boasts two turf fields—perfect for soccer, dodgeball, football, or whiffle ball—and two basketball courts. Not into sports? Then check out the Bounce Town Inflatables, featuring a 24-foot slide, Bungee Run, Shark Tunnel, and more, or GloPutt mini-golf, an 18-hole glow-in-the-dark miniature golf course (pictured).
