Pinot's Palette Expands Paint Classes to Children

Pinot's Palette Expands Paint Classes to Children

Pinot's Palette, which originally began offering paint-and-drink classes for adults, will begin offering kids' painting classes this month. The paint venue also hosts art birthday parties.

Pinot’s Palette in Nanuet will begin offering classes and programs for kids this month. The paint-and-drink program initially offered classes for adults and is now expanding to accommodate children. Owner Barbara Nesi grew up in Rockland County, and says she saw the need for more entertainment venues for children and adults.

This new location, which opened Jan. 24, will host a class called Little Brushes, in which kids ages 6 and older will paint or do crafts. Little Brushes allows kids to make art without focusing on technical skills learned in a regular art class. “You can just go in for one day and create a masterpiece that you’re happy with and walk out the door,” Nesi says. “You don’t need to do a lot of instruction on how to do shading and all of these things that regular art classes teach.”

Pinot’s Palette hosts Family Day each Sunday from 11am-1pm, during which families create a painting together. Nesi says she also hopes to introduce a week-long art camp for kids during school breaks; Teen Nights, in which teens can create paintings that glow under black light; and mommy- or daddy-and-me classes, which is similar to Family Day but with more one-on-one time between parents and children.

Kids can also have birthday parties with a minimum of 10 guests by reserving the studio and picking a picture for everyone to paint. Though Pinot’s Palette does serve wine and beer, soda and other non-alcoholic beverages are available.

Classes range between 2-3 hours and costs vary, but space is limited, so Nesi encourages participants register online beforehand.
